Early Childhood: Waumba Land

Waumba Land is the name of our nursery/preschool environment for children who are newborn through age five). "Waumba" is the Swahili word for "Creator." Through interactive stories, music and small groups, we emphasize these three goals:

  1. God made me
  2. God loves me
  3. Jesus wants to be my friend for life

Sundays at 9:00 and 10:35 a.m., Waumba Land uses the Hands-on Bible curriculum to give 3- to 5-year-olds a great first impression of their loving heavenly Father.

Our Infant and Toddler rooms (ages 0-2) are filled with great toys, books, games and music. You'll find them staffed by loving team members who aren't afraid of a dirty diaper or two. They'll get a great first impression of the love of God through songs, games, play time and stories. We also offer secure check-in procedures and a pager system so that you can enjoy the worship service, assured that we will page you if your child should need you.

What happens each week at our Preschool Classes in Waumba Land?

Don't be surprised if our classrooms are a little bit noisier than a traditional Sunday School class. What you are seeing are happy, involved, excited children discovering Biblical truths with all of their senses!

Learning activities provide your child with an opportunity to be introduced to Biblical truths relating to that week's lesson.

Large Group Time is a corporate time of fun with songs, prayers, games and stories that come to life! This is an interactive lesson in God's Word. Worship time is age-appropriate and high energy. We believe in movement!

Creative Expression Time is time when children can visually recreate God's lesson for the week.

Scripture Memory

Every month a memory verse is chosen to convey an important Biblical truth that conveys our three main goals: God Made Me, God Loves Me, Jesus Wants To Be My Friend For Life. Through repetition each Sunday and other learning tools, your child will learn 12 verses a year successfully!

Sign In & Sign Out Procedures

All children must be checked in by a parent or guardian and given a nametag. Visitors will also need to fill out a registration form for their child. Pagers are available for parents for their convenience and peace of mind during worship. If you’d like a pager, stop by nursery counter to check one out.

A take-home paper is available each Sunday for parents to pick up. These papers summarize what was taught that day and have activity and prayer suggestions to keep your child growing in God all week long! Please don't forget to collect any other worksheets, crafts and art projects when you pick up your child.
