December Haiti Team, Monday, December 7th, 2015
The team had our first day of work, and it was a tremendous effort. We painted the roof, helped prep for the concrete work, and then got the entire sidewalk poured and finished around the transitional house. We are thankful that everyone is still feeling well, and there were no injuries on the construction site. We are still missing our luggage, but our spirits are good and we have learned how to share clothes, and wash clothes in the sink and hang them to dry for the next day.
Before our work day, we got to watch the children sing the Haiti national anthem and raise the flag, and then we were introduced by John to the children. We are still learning to communicate with them with short phrases, smiles and gestures, with the exception of Ken Schmidt, who speaks French.
Tomorrow's work involves painting the interior of the house, and we are still hoping that the luggage will arrive on the next plane from Miami tomorrow afternoon at 3:00. Please keep this delivery in your prayers, as we would really like to have the medicine so that Dr. Joe can help the children with medical issues.
