Using this site
There are many ways to use the LFMC Worship-Blog site to interact with others, keep track of what's happening, comment on things that are posted here, start discussions--the possibilities are practically endless, and there are additional features available that could be enabled, if there is interest.
The first thing you need to do is create an account for yourself--many features are not available to "unregistered" users. The reason for this is simple: opening everything up to the whole world invites all sorts of content, some of which may be annoying, if not downright objectionable.
Creating an account is easy: when you visit the page, look in the left-hand column for the "Create new account" link, click on it, fill in the form, and watch your e-mail for a message with further instructions. When someone creates a new account, a request goes to the site administrator for approval, so be patient--it could take as much as a day or so. You'll get a message with a one-time login link--click on that link to log in to the site, and you're ready to begin using the site.
When you're logged in, you can do a variety of things:
- Comment on blog posts
- Comment on forum topics
- Customize your user profile
- Sign up for events
- Read interesting articles from other blogs and stuff
- ...and more to come...
Explore the site, try things out, experiment--it's okay to send test messages and to play around with various features on the site. If you don't know how to use something, check out the "Help with this site" forum--someone else may have already figured it out.
At some point, I expect this site will be integrated with the main LFMC Web site--we're going to be moving the church site to Drupal (this CMS system) soon, and that will open up all sorts of possibilities for community interaction. Until that happens, you can expect this site to change from time to time as I play around with the software and learn how to do new stuff and implement new features (and take some away). I hope you'll be patient with me on that, and I hope you'll let me know what you like and don't like.
If you have suggestions for ways to improve the site, or ideas for innovative uses of the site, visit the "Suggestions" forum and let us know.
Enjoy!
